In the outskirts of the bustling Kathmandu, city dwellers are met with a rare sight – women carrying traditional bamboo baskets or doko as it is called in Nepali. This basket is used to hold fodder for their cattle or is a traditional travel bag – its versatility knows no bounds. However, what is rare for urban monkeys like us is a way of life of our rural, authentic Nepali people. Inspired by the sight of a working woman in Nepal’s villages, this piece is an abstraction of the figure. The design has two parts – the circle and the triangle. The circle symbolizes the head of the woman and the triangle the doko. It is called The Reverse since the piece is inspired not from the front profile, but the back.
